Location: Jekyll Island, GA

Client: Jekyll Island Authority

When the Jekyll Island Authority board met in November of 2020, it continued the conversation around proposed improvements to the island’s Golf Master Plan. The work is still in the early stages, and the JIA board discussed the next steps. Ken Bleakly, the KB Advisory Group founder, was on hand to offer a financial analysis of the recently proposed master plan by the golf course architecture firm, Vincent Design, LLC.

Ken told the board, “Once the course renovations are completed, we estimate that the plan would generate about $4.2 million in annual economic impact to Jekyll Island, and that would come in various forms.”

The analysis indicates the development-of surplus land no longer required for the golf facility could generate funds to offset a portion of the costs related to the Golf Master Plan improvements. The KB Advisory Group also addressed financing options and development ideas for the surplus land. These actions would assist in decreasing maintenance expenditures and increase golf revenue.
